Update: Want to see this Heather Ross Briar Rose Quilt finished? Here is the link!

When I saw the sneak peek of Heather Ross's line Briar Rose, I knew my wallet was in for it! I LOVE tiny characters on fabrics, I love clover, I love strawberries and flowers. This had all of that plus little crickets, frogs in ponds, and little bees in aprons. I mean.. As a fabric hoarder, I obviously had to have it. I tend to "collect" these fabrics, but this time, I knew I had to make something so that this fabric could really be enjoyed- Enter my Heather Ross Briar Rose quilt!

Right now this quilt is on a waiting list to be quilted by a new lady that I don't know yet. My fabulous quilter up and moved back to Sacramento. Dang it! Anyway, I paired simple charm squares with super light pink fabric for a girly look. I couldn't bear to chop this fabric smaller than the 5" because I love the details of the actual prints, and didn't want them to get lost in a crazy design.

This quilt is in between a King and Queen size because my bed is a weirdo. My husband looked at the quilt top and said, "So I am going to have to sleep under a pink fairy quilt?" THEY ARE BEES!!! Oh man, he is really patient with my fabric habit and all of my projects, but he really doesn't get it. Like I don't get his 1967 Ford project. To each his (or her) own! We both have our little things that make us really happy. Anyway, I will post more when this quilt is quilted, right now I'm just waiting on the quilter to have an opening!

Did I mention that I splurged on the backing too? It is a Riley Blake 108" wideback, so I didn't have to sew pieces together to make it big enough! Even though I must say that ironing that beast was tough!

I must say I'm happy with the simple way this top turned out and can't wait to have it on my bed. It will be the first quilt I've made just for myself and so it is pink and flowery and whimsical. And dorky, just my style!

P.S. Heather Ross is my favorite fabric designer of ALL time. Check out some of her stuff here.
